How to Write a Winning Application Letter | The Ready Writers

September 8, 2017by readywriters

An application letter, sometimes referred to as a cover letter, is a document sent with a C.V to provide additional information about one’s skills, experience, and qualifications.

The application letter is expected to provide relevant information detailing your reasons for applying for the job and why you should be considered for the position.

Note that your application letter is not a summary of what is on your resume. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s look at what you can do to create a winning application letter.

  1. Go straight to the point: In your first paragraph, explain your reason for writing the letter, make sure you mention the company’s name, the role you are applying for, how you found out about the vacancy and why you think you are a strong candidate for the job.

  1. Write something that is not in your C.V: Write some great skills that you have that are not already in your C.V and highlight some of your major strengths too. Also, while writing, try to display some knowledge about the role you are applying for.

  1. Close in a professional way: At the closing of your letter, don’t forget to say thank you. Also, add your contact details in case they would like to contact you and state how you intend to follow up with the application.

By following these steps, you would have written a great application letter that would land a strong impression on your future employer.

Let’s design together

One of the reasons we became interior designers in the first place was because we love collecting and then putting it all together. But when you’re designing your own house, the hardest thing is to finish it, as you’re always adding your next favourite thing, and finally there’s no space left.
