August 14, 2020by readywriters

You may be very good at writing, but scared of becoming a writer because you don’t think you would be successful at it. But when you think of successful writers like Daniel Steel and Sidney Sheldon, you wonder how they managed to be successful.

Well, today is your lucky day as we will be sharing with you 7 ways to become a successful writer:

  1. Define success:

Yes, you can’t be successful at anything if you don’t define what success means to you. So, if you want to become a successful writer, first define what success is to you: Do you want to be recognized as a writer, or do you want to be rich through writing?, Or do you simply want to impact lives through your writing? And if that is the case, how many lives would you like to impact before you see yourself as successful? Determine what success means to you first and you can move on from there.

  2. Have a calendar:

In your calendar, determine how many books you want to publish per year, and have a proposed date for when you want the books to be written and published. If possible, have a title and summary of the book written down too.

  3. Be disciplined:

No one can be successful without discipline; so once you have determined what you want to do, or the books you want to publish, ensure that you carry out the tasks on time.

  4. Exercise:

Exercise is not for the body alone, the brain needs exercise too. So while you can exercise your body by going to the gym, you can also exercise your brain by doing some free writing. Doing both physical and mental exercises would help you write better and with ease.

  5. Follow successful writers and get motivated:

The best motivation comes from within; however, you can follow successful writers; read their works, learn from them and get motivated by them.

  6. Market your books:

When you have written your books, ensure that you market them to anyone and everyone. Don’t discriminate when it comes to marketing your books, and use every means available to ensure that you reach a wide range of people.

  7. Never get discouraged:

People may criticize you, reject you or even laugh at you, but don’t let that stop you from being a writer. The secret to getting better at the craft is to keep writing.

When you follow all of the tips above, you definitely will succeed in your writing career.

Cheers!

Let’s design together

One of the reasons we became interior designers in the first place was because we love collecting and then putting it all together. But when you’re designing your own house, the hardest thing is to finish it, as you’re always adding your next favourite thing, and finally there’s no space left.
